Privacy policy
Your rides stay yours.
This policy explains what Ride Better collects when you film a ride, how that information is used to build your training plan, who sees it, and how to get a copy or ask for it to be deleted.
Effective September 26, 2026
Who we are
Ride Better is an equestrian training app and website (ridebetterapp.com and the Ride Better app) operated by Katie Rodriguez (“Ride Better”, “we”, “us”). This policy covers the Ride Better website, the Ride Better app, and any related service we run.
Questions about this policy, or any request described in it, go to ridebetterapp@gmail.com.
What we collect
We keep collection to what the app needs to work: your account, your horses, your rides, and your plan.
- Account information. Your name, email address, hashed password, and subscription or trial status.
- Your horses. Names, breed, age, discipline, and the notes you add about each horse — including anything you choose to record about soundness, limitations, or veterinary guidance.
- Ride video and photos. The footage and images you upload, with the file details that come with them (such as upload time and device).
- Training data. Analysis results, exercise and plan content, goals, calendar entries, session notes, and the progress history built up over time.
- Trainer connections. Which trainers you link to your account, and which of your rides, plans, or notes you choose to share with them.
- Usage and device information. Basic technical data such as app version, device type, general region, and which features are used, so we can keep the app running and fix problems.
- Payment information. Subscription purchases are completed inside the Ride Better app by our payment provider. We keep your subscription status and billing records; we do not collect or store full card numbers on our own systems.
- Messages you send us. Support emails, feedback, and any survey or review responses you choose to send.
How we use your information
We use your information to do the job the app exists for, and nothing more than that.
- Process the ride videos and photos you upload and return feedback about what happened in the ride.
- Build and update a training plan for the specific horse you are riding, and keep your history and progress.
- Show your rides and plan to the trainers you have linked, on the terms you choose.
- Run your account: sign-in, trial status, billing, renewals, and receipts.
- Keep the app secure, prevent abuse and fraud, and troubleshoot errors.
- Send service messages you have asked for, such as reminders, plan updates, and billing notices.
- Improve the product — for example, understanding which features riders actually use.
- Comply with the law, enforce our terms, and respond to lawful requests.
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share your ride videos with advertisers.
Your videos and photos
Ride footage is the most sensitive thing you give us, so it is worth being specific. Video you upload is stored so it can be analyzed and shown back to you. It is visible to you, to the trainers you link and choose to share with, and to the service providers that store and process it on our behalf. It is not published to any public area of Ride Better and is not shared with other riders.
You can delete a video at any time from the app. Deletion removes it from your account and from your trainer’s view. Copies held in backups or in a provider’s processing queue are removed on that provider’s schedule, which can take some days.
Only upload footage you have the right to upload, and where other people or their property are identifiable and would expect privacy, get their permission first.
How long we keep it
Your account, horses, videos, and training history are kept while your account is open. If you close your account or ask us to delete your data, we remove it from the active app within 30 days of confirming your request, and clear it from backups on our normal backup rotation.
Some records are kept longer where we have a legitimate reason to do so — for example billing and tax records, and records needed to resolve disputes or meet legal obligations.
Your choices and rights
Depending on where you live, you may be able to request access to your personal information, a portable copy of it, correction of anything inaccurate, deletion, or a restriction on certain processing. You can also stop marketing messages at any time using the unsubscribe link in the message.
Send requests to ridebetterapp@gmail.com. We may ask you to confirm who you are before answering, and we will not charge you for a reasonable request. We do not discriminate against anyone for exercising these rights.
You control most of this yourself in the app: you can edit your profile and horse details, unlink a trainer, and delete rides and notes.
How we protect your data
Ride Better is delivered over encrypted connections, access to production systems is restricted to people who need it, and we review security issues as they surface. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure, so we cannot promise absolute security — please keep your password private and tell us immediately if you think your account has been accessed by someone else.
Children
Ride Better is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. Riders under 18 should use the app with a parent’s or guardian’s involvement, and the account holder is responsible for what is uploaded through it.
Changes to this policy
If we make a material change to this policy, we will update the effective date shown above and, where the change affects how your data is used, notify you in the app or by email. Continued use of Ride Better after a change takes effect means the updated policy applies.
